Motorcycle driver dies day after serious collision

A deadly collision claimed the life of a 20-year-old motorcycle driver who died in the hospital from severe head injuries Wednesday, said Scottsdale police.

 

Aaron Montague and his girlfriend were driving westbound at high speed on Shea Boulevard near 130th Street Tuesday when their motorcycle struck the right rear of aToyota, said Scottsdale authorities.

 

Police reports said the motorcycle passengers were thrown from the motorcycle which skidded 400 feet on the roadway and burst into flames.

 

Montague suffered severe head trauma and was transported to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn in extremely critical condition. He passed away Wednesday afternoon after being removed from life support at 4 p.m., according to authorities.

 

The 18-year-old female passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries including a shoulder injury and severe road rash. The driver of the Toyota was not injured said police.

 

According to investigators the motorcycle was traveling at over 100mph when the collision occurred; investigators believe Montague was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.
