Mesa toddler run over, injured by trailer
A Mesa toddler was seriously injured Friday afternoon when she was accidentally run over by a flat-bed trailer, said Mesa authorities.
The 3-year-old girl was still breathing but was bleeding from her stomach and had a rapidly swelling left leg according to Mesa police.
Authorities were unsure how the child was run over but said the incident ,which occurred near Val Vista Drive and Adobe Street at 5:47 p.m., appears to be accidental. Authorities said the child’s father reported the incident and said his father-in-law was driving the trailer.
Emergency units were on scene treating the child and a helicopter was en route to transport the toddler to a local hospital at 6 p.m.
