Mesa police on Saturday arrested a man who had been wanted for months in connection with an assault case.

Orvil Gabriel Senday was arrested at his mother’s home, 562 W. 8th St., after briefly barricading himself inside the house.

Police said Senday had been wanted since December after punching a woman who had approached him about her missing cell phone. In that incident, Senday allegedly hit the woman in the face and then knocked her down and ran from the apartment where they had been talking. She was taken to the hospital where she needed six stitches.

Police found Senday at his mother’s home late Saturday night. He was booked on suspicion of aggravated assault. He also had two felony warrants outstanding.

Watch out for this scam

Pinal County Sheriff Chris Vasquez warns that local

residents should beware of a fundraising scam.

The con artists behind this are calling residents throughout

the county, soliciting donations for the Arizona County Attorneys and Sheriffs

Association.

Although the association hosts an annual fundraiser, that is

only through direct mail. So, do not give the callers any money or financial

information. If you have caller ID and receive a call from these solicitors,

write down their phone number and call deputies at (520) 866-6800.
