A 38-year-old Gilbert man was arrested Tuesday after he used his 8-year-old son’s social security number to lease an apartment and open an account with Salt River Project.
Officers arrested Harold Bray just before 9 p.m. when he arrived at Gilbert police headquarters for a scheduled child custody exchange.
Police didn’t release information saying how they discovered Bray was using his son’s information.
He was booked on identification theft charges.

The collision occurred at Greenfield and Germann roads about 10:45 a.m., when a semi driven by Ronald Schunk ran a red light. A SUV traveling through the intersection smashed into the side of the semi. The semi then crashed into another car, propelling it into a third vehicle. Drivers for two of the vehicles were taken to Scottsdale Osborn hospital with non-serious injuries. Police said Schunk may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The suspect approached the children about 12:30 p.m. in a neighborhood near Cooper and Warner roads. He told them that he was armed, although no weapon was displayed, police said. The suspect stole a bike and money from the children. The suspect is described as a thin white male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with blue eyes, brown hair, a long goatee and a blue tattoo on his right wrist. If you steal a car from a dealership, don’t give the salesman your driver’s license. Gilbert police arrested the 22-year-old Mesa man Thursday night after he and another man carjacked an SUV from a Gilbert car dealarship earlier in the afternoon, police said. Coleman went to test drive a Chevy Tahoe about 4:30 p.m. at Henry Brown GMC, near Val Vista Road and Loop 202.After he pulled out of the parking lot with a salesman riding with him, a four-door Saturn swerved and stopped in front of them.Dwight Boochie, 21, jumped out of the car and pulled a gun on the salesman, forcing him out of the vehicle, police said. The salesman ran back to the dealership to call police, and Boochie and Coleman fled. But it didn’t take long for detectives to get a lead on Coleman. Before the test drive, he gave his driver’s license to the salesman, who made a photocopy. Detectives located Coleman at 9 p.m., driving the Saturn near Sossaman and University Roads. After a search, they found the keys to the Tahoe and the gun, which was also stolen. Police arrested Coleman and found Boochie shortly later in his Phoenix apartment, near 46th Street and Baseline Road. He was arrested without incident, police said. Both suspects were booked on suspicion of armed robbery. The stolen Tahoe was found in Chandler. Genaro Maduena, 35, and Reyna Encinas-Montijo, 41, were apprehended at a grocery store near Hunt Highway and Bella Vista Drive by the Pinal County Narcotics Task Force, which bought drugs from the two several times during recent weeks, sheriff’s officials said.Authorities found methamphetamine and cocaine on the suspects that were packaged for sale. They also had their children present during many of the drug buys, sheriff’s officials said. Maduena and Encinas-Montijo were booked on several drug and child abuse charges. Alex Madrid, of Mesa, was arrested just before 7:30 p.m. at a Chandler Wal-Mart after fleeing officers, police said. The victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was involved in a year-long relationship with Madrid and left voluntarily with him last Thursday. But at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the victim contacted her parents and told them that Madrid was holding her against her will and demanding money, police said. Madrid also may have assaulted the woman. But she did not suffer major injuries, police said. Madrid was booked on suspicion of kidnapping. |
