Shoplifting suspect shot with Taser

December 26th, 2008, 10:52 am · 8 Comments · posted by Gary Grado

A 21-year-old shoplifting suspect took a swing at a Mesa cop Thursday and got a blast of electricity and a jail cell in return.

According to Mesa police, the officer was trying to detain Philip Raphael Jr., when Raphael struck him several times in the chest and arms before running away.

The officer fired his Taser at Raphael and arrested him. Also arrested was Christopher Phillips, who was turned over to Scottsdale police on a warrant.

The incident began at 3:50 p.m. when someone at Walgreens at 8th Avenue and Alma School Road reported that two men stole alcohol.

The officer arrived and noticed bulges in their clothing.

I can’t believe nobody has commented on the line, “The officer arrived and noticed bulges in their clothing.”

You gotta like a story with a happy ending.

The usual “youthful offenders” who think they can just do as they please without any repercussions. Just watch! They will probably try to sue the police for the taser incident. Long jail sentences will keep them off the streets for awhile.

Hey!….all you perps, boobs and macaroons on a beer run, it may be a “shock” to you, and based upon the “lightning” speed of police response, maybe you should just find an idiot parent of yer pals to buy you the beer instead.
With your “electric” personalities, you could “stun” them with your “dazed” logic, then you can drink until yer “paralyzed”. Or you could just do a beer run, get caught, resist and be shot with something more “leathal”. I prefer the latter.

They call it, “ridin the lightning.” I am impressed with the officer’s response. You don’t touch the officer, you don’t resist. That’s what lawyers and court are for.
