A traffic stop in Maricopa netted the Pinal County sheriff’s office over $200,000 in cash after a drug-sniffing K-9 determined the presence of narcotics in the suspect’s vehicle, according to a PCSO spokeswoman.
No drugs were found during the traffic stop on State Route 347 to Maricopa on Tuesday, but officers said the dog gave a positive alert to the presence of narcotics where the cash was placed in a hidden area, said spokeswoman Vanessa White.
The department arrested the two vehicle occupants, Edgar Felix-Valencia and Ivan Felix, and confiscated the money, White said. The cash will be added to the sheriff’s office RICO funds, she said.
Following interviews with the men, a narcotics task force booked Felix-Valencia, 21, (pictured) for money laundering and released Felix, 28, without charges.
***Correction: An earlier version of this story included the quote: “the bundles of cash were placed in a hidden area where the drugs had been previously stored.” This has been corrected to say: “the dog gave a positive alert to the presence of narcotics where the cash was placed in a hidden area.”***

Why would they release Felix? They actually mustive believed he knew nothing about the drugs or the money? OMG! ! ! ! He probably took off to go get the second, third or fourth load……………..
So they cops actually believed that Felix had nothing to do with this? Riding along for the fun of it? GEEEZZZZZZ

robnaz, PCSO Deputies had nothing to do with releasing Felix. A judge released him from our detention facility. Our Deputies did their job by stopping the vehicle, finding the cash and arresting the suspects. Quit making assumptions when you have no clues as to how the criminal justice system works. You should know what happens when you A.S.S.U.M.E.!
Hmmmm thats funny, thats the same area as the other arrest! Theres a foot in your mouth. No traffic out there but sure seems to be full of illegal activity. Robnaz, I suggest you go on a ride with one of those deputies at night. I’ve been once and would never put myself in that position again. Might open your eyes to see what goes on in that area.
