A Mesa woman convicted of identity theft recently was sentenced to 6-1/2 years in prison.
Crystal Wright, 30, also must serve two years probation and make financial restitution.
Tempe police said Wright stole a credit card number and charged $7,852 to the victim’s account. She was arrested in March.
In September, she pleaded guilty to aggravated identity theft, a class three felony, with one prior felony conviction.

its about time id theivers get the book thrown at them………….and the one thing they all have in common? dope………….6 1/2 yrs will sober her up, now if we could just get all the judges to treat them all like this we might see something positive for a change! ! !

  • ID theft is a huge problem….6 1/2 years that’s a stretch, will it sober her-up….not even! RobynAZ get real, you must hav no idea what it’s like behind those walls.

I pray it is enough. I am tired of living in fear. I wish I could express how this woman has effected my life but there are no words. May she sober and clean herself up. May she see how she has effected not only myself but the community she victimized and financially damaged. I truly wonder if she will ever realize what she and her friends have done. I wish there was a way to truly rehabilitate them but reality is that they will just find a new way of taking advantage of others and however this is a pretty good sentence she will be out too soon and identity thieves just find a new scheme to take advantage of others and there is just not tough enough legislation against this “Victimless” crime because it doesn’t physically injure the victim. Its all paper… Mike thank you for all you have done… I am sorry I couldn’t get back too you.

    Should’ve got liposuction, you whale!

Responce to “victim”. Public and televised executions are the only way to make the criminal see the crime from the victims point of view. A loaf of bread to feed their kids I can justify, even forgive, but steeling for drugs it is time to clean the gene pool and teach future generations that crime will not be tollerated.

Victim - I too have been victimized by a group of people in Mesa. I have little doubt that she is part of the same group & infact looks like one of them but was using a different name. As you, I have had to come to terms with the loss of all that was taken - THAT I WORKED AND SACRIFICED FOR, pick myself up and go forward with my life - although a changed person. “Victimless crime?” Beyond the money & all it was to be used for… they stole my trust and basic belief in humanity, which in some ways “locks me away” & has taken part of the joy from my life. I can only hope, dream & pray that both you & I (along with all the others victimized by this crime) can someday regain that part of ourselves to again become the happy, whole people we once were. A BIG HORAAH !!!! FOR THE JUDGE WHO FINALLY DID THE RIGHT THING.

  • Consumer says:

This crime will continue as long as the credit card companies get to keep making the consumer pay for allowing fradulent charges to be made. The victim isn’t defrauded, the credit card company was. They should be the ones holding the bag for the $7,800 in charges that the cardholder didn’t authorize, not the cardholder. Until they are required to pay they won’t find better fraud detection methods and stop this type of theft.

And i agree with AuntFlo on liposuction, but don’t believe you can suck the fat out of a person’s brain.
