So, I see this discussion has turned to guns…..I wonder how many of you pro-gun people voted Obama in? You know he’s going to take away your right to bear arms, don’t you? You will no longer be able to sleep with Mr. Glock cozying up at your side, much less Mr. Winchester whispering sweet safe tidings in your ear. You will be defenseless and at the whim of any intruder large enough to have his way with you. You will no longer enjoy knowing that you can defend your loved ones against all invaders, “foreign” AND “domestic”. And THAT, my friends, is one of the basic rights bestowed upon you, PAID IN FULL, with the blood of your sons and daughters, fathers and mothers. I for one will never give up my weapon. The desert is a big place……and I own a big shovel. God save America…..

Um the suspect entered the home and threatened the homeowner with a baseball bat. The homeowner was able to disarm the suspect and apply a little justice of his own to the suspect until the cops showed up, good for him. Hopefully the suspect leaves the hospital with broken bones, nothing less would be acceptable. Now, had the homeowner confronted this suspect who had the baseball bat in hand and the homeowner had his gun in his hand, this case would be a self defense issue, and this suspect with the bat would be deceased… at least that’s how it would have happened in my world. Self defense is a reasonable justification in this case had the homeowner shot and killed this armed intruder… end of story!

My head is still squar on my shoulders, but thanks for the advice, TV isn’t my influence. Common sense is. I won’t debate gun control - I’m glad you sleep well at night.
I can’t find more on the article, but I didn’t see anywhere where a gun was part of the incident.
So why are the gun slingers so up in arms? (forgive the pun).
Just another grandstand opportunity.
Let’s here from, I don’t know, baseball players, little leaguers, imbattled spouses. My mom used to use my blonde slugger on my dad in their drinking days. I once had to tie my dad up in the garage and detain him by holding a rifle nearby. Fortunately he was drunk and not a stranger.
But I still haven’t read anything in the article about guns.
The victim got the job done without maiming or killing.
Just as Jason got the job done in Tempe by shooting the robber’s truck engine to detain him as he was going to drive off. Instead he sat until police arrived. And he got slapped with the extreme inconvenience of answering to charges of discharging a firearm in the city. Guns are lethal weapons. He didn’t use it as such. He used it because the robber was going to leave and called his bluff. So, with your logic, he should have inflicted a gunshot wound or killed a guy for some copper. I once heard a clown in a bicycle shop who was buying a lock for his bike to attach to his car bike rack. He seriously said he would kill someone if they tried to take his bike off the car. I asked him, ” Really? You’d kill someone for trying to take a bike? Let’s just do speedy death sentences for anyone trespassing, attempting robbery or looking at us crosseyed. Gun down the kooks. Don’t wait for the law who have SOME training. Just fly off the handle of your semi-automatic and slay perhaps a person with Alzheimers entering the wrong house but hasn’t time to explain because you’ve spent hours at the pistol range and your finger itches.
I like Denny Crane as much as the next guy, but don’t accuse ME of being influenced by TV. He is a fantasy character, an extremist developed in the brilliant mind of David Kelley who is obviously sarcasm and irony lost on you Wyatt Earp wannabes.
