At about 4 p.m. Sunday, loss prevention workers at Mervyns, 1240 E. Main St. in Mesa, saw several people taking merchandise without paying. According to a police report, a Mervyns employee assisted the individuals in the theft.
On more than one occasion, the individuals brought items to a register, but paid only a few dollars for the merchandise, according to the report. A 16 year-old clerk charged $15 to $25 for each transaction. In one case, the clerk took no money.
Three adults and three juveniles could be charged with commercial theft. Police recovered more than $5,000 worth of merchandise. They are looking for two other people, along with approximately $2,300 in merchandise.
I can guess their “culture!”

My first job when I turned 16 was at JCPenney and a high school kid was fired every month for theft and fraud…all white, which begs the question, why is this even news?

I don’t think that store employs any white people. Not being racist, I just know because I have shopped there.
I have shopped there for 20 + years and I can’t remember any white employees working there now that are that young.

Of course the clerk MUST be Mexican, because — goodness knows — White people never, EVER do anything illegal/immoral (except perhaps make outrageous mortgage loans to people unable to pay them…..oh, and also the ones who sold the loans to other institutions…)
Commercial theft, shoplifting, etc., pretty much cross race and cultural boundaries.

That store and anything near it are ghetto. There are no white people employeed there or hardly any white people that shop there. Mervyns pretty much the past few years only caters ot the hispanics anyway. It’s a total mexican store now. No wonder they’re going out of business.
I am ashamed of all of you!!! I work for mervyns and some say we cater to a certain demographic. Should you market to people who wont shop at your store??? That would be stupid. Its also very stupid to say no white people work for mervyns because i worked in three stores and we had many white, black hispanic asian. Mervyns is a company that hired and trained people regardless of ethnicity. Damn have some compassion for the 20,000 of us who will be out of jobs. Maybe your company is next.
