2-year-old Q.C. boy drowns in canal

A 2-year-old boy who was found floating in a canal behind his home Friday night drowned despite attempts to revive him, said Pinal County Sheriff’s authorities.

 

The boy, whose name was not released, was found floating in a canal behind his home by his parents at 5 p.m., said Mike Minter, spokesman for the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.

 

The boy’s parents performed CPR while emergency crews responded to the scene at 5000 E. Rogers Lane in Queen Creek, he said.

 

Authorities did not know how long the boy was in the water before he was found by his parents. He was transported to a Valley hospital by helicopter and was later pronounced dead, Minter said.

 

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident and deputies were on scene late Friday. No further information was available.
