Mesa police on Sunday arrested Manuel Arquez after he fought with his brother about the outcome of the Cardinals’ football game.
At 7:45 p.m., police responded to a call about a fight at a home in the 1300 block of South Pomeroy. When they arrived, Anquiz admitted to fighting with his brother William, who had a bloody nose, after their Cardinals-Dallas Cowboys party broke up. William said he got the bloody nose during a fight with Manuel.
When an officer tried to stop William, Manuel pushed the officer away from his brother. The officer Tazed Manuel before arresting him. Police said the brothers admitted to arguing after the game, which the Cardinals won, and drinking several more beers before the fight started.
William told police he was a Cowboys fan. Manuel said he rooted for the Cardinals.
“The Cardinals won and they still beat my (butt),” William told police. Manuel faces charges of aggravated assault and assault.

Two grown men fighting over the outcome of a pro football game. It just doesn’t get any more stupid than that. If only people (especially “ball” fans) had as much passion and enthusiasm for real-world problems.
