A Virginia high school wrestling coach, featured on “America’s Most Wanted” for charges relating to sexual assault on a student, was captured by Phoenix authorities Friday.

Ben Hunter, 41, lived near the intersection of Indian School Road and Central Avenue after he posted bond and fled from Virginia, according to U.S. Marshal spokesman Matt Hershey.

While he served as a volunteer wrestling coach, Hunter is accused of giving anabolic steroids to a wrestler and claiming they were supplements.

On several overnight wrestling trips, police suspect that Hunter sexually assaulted the same athlete on numerous occasions, Hershey said.

Hunter has been featured twice on the popular television show “America’s Most Wanted” in the past year.

U.S. Marshals and a Phoenix Child Predator Apprehension Team were able to locate Hunter after an investigation based in Richmond, VA.

They (Most Wanted) always end up either driving through or living here in Phoenix.

They come here, because they know that Joe will not be looking for them. Unless, they are illegal.

  • Phoenix is close enough to the border, it makes a great hiding spot for those preparing the flee the country. With our wide open spaces and large population, it’s an ideal place to lay low for awhile. One more off the streets, thousands more to go…
