Two men in their 30s were killed during what Phoenix police said was a car chase early Friday morning.
At around 2 a.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired and vehicles chasing each other in the area of 3400 E. University Drive. Officers found two men dead in a Dodge Caliber. Both had apparent gunshot wounds and ultimately crashed into a tree on the south side of East University, according to police.
Their names have not been released.
Detectives reported finding shell casings from multiple caliber weapons in the street from 3200 E. to 3600 E. University. Witnesses describe the suspect vehicle as a dark Honda. Police aren’t sure who was in that car and said they don’t know the cause of the initial altercation.
