Divers searched the waters of Saguaro Lake Saturday evening for a person that drowned near a boat dock, police say.
The person jumped from a boat or from the dock and did not surface, according to Maricopa County Det. Aaron Douglas.
The search was called off into the late evening because the rescue divers could no longer see in the darkness, Douglas said.
The search will resume in the morning if the body has not been found, he said. Bystanders in the area attempted to rescue the victim before police arrived but were unsuccessful.
Douglas could not confirm the victim’s identity late Saturday.
MCSO could not provide any further details about the case.

I was one of the bystanders that tried to rescue Ryan
I was driving along the road near Saguaro lake when I saw a Sherrif’s helocopter hovering above the lake so I decided to go and have a look to see what was going on. I pulled up and got out of my car and was talking to an officer about what was going on. All he said was that someone drown and there was a lot of drinking involved. I was wondering exactly what happend and would really appreciate a response from you Don since you said you were there. And I’m very sorry you had to witness something like this. Ryan was my nephew. He was a strong, generous, and kind young man with a heart of gold. He lived his life with integrity. He was a loving son and brother. It is unfortunate that the sheriff’s department released incorrect information about Ryan’s accident or any information for that matter without having all of the facts. I just want everyone to know, that the world is a better place because Ryan was a part of it. I wish everyone could have met him. He could be in a room and say nothing, but say everything. I will miss his presence, but hold his memory close to my heart forever.
