A 28-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection with robbing a Chandler pharmacy of prescription drugs.Asif Arab was arrested about 7:13 p.m. at his parents’ house where he lives in Tempe, police said.

The robbery was committed just before 6 p.m. at CVS, 2005 N. Dobson Road. The assailant gave the employee a letter saying he was armed and demanding all the store’s Oxycontin. He was wearing dark clothing and had a hood pulled over his head and his face painted black, police said.

When Arab’s father let detectives into a bedroom, Arab was wiping makeup off his face. Police had tracked him to the home because a witness had recorded his license plate.

Arab was booked into jail on one count armed robbery. Police don’t believe he was linked to any other Valley pharmacy robberies.

Police haven’t linked him to any other robberies “yet” but it makes you wonder if he had done it before. Drug addiction is a bad thing and apparently this young man is having a difficult time. I never understood the addiction to pain killers, but I guess for some it is too hard to resist. Let’s hope his parents don’t bail him out, show him some tough love, and let him get the help he needs in prison.

Good job CPD Gang Unit for reacting quickly after the robbery was reported and catching this guy. We need more elite units like this in the city. Good job and thanks for keeping us safe

didn’t dad notice the 28 yr old son coming home with black makeup on his face? doesn’t he notice this grown man has no job, and wears black makeup on his face? parents, there are options to addictions…….mesa has numerous programs to help people. addicts rarely show the ability to be able to help themselves so it is up to family / loved ones to TRY to help them. If they are afforded help and still mess up, PRISON. Cause all in all, they got to want to stop being idiots before they will……..

i know asif very well and worked side by side with him for about 2 years about 2 years ago we went diffrent ways with are jobs. asif was a normal guy that had a car payment and rent to pay and worked hard for it. its sad to see that over the last year drugs including meth have really taken over his life, i hope that one day he can re join the general public and stay clean, hes still a good friend but he is were he needs to be, because clearly not safe right now. hope to see you again buddy.

I have known Asif at work in the same department for about one year. He has always been polite and generous. I was shocked to hear he has a problem. Oxycontin is a drug that gives one an addiction. It provides an euphoric effect to the user, in my understanding.
