Tempe police are searching for a man who crashed into three vehicles Sunday and ran away before police could catch him.
Tempe police spokesman Sgt. Scott Smith said a young man driving northbound on McClintock Drive near Rio Salado Parkway rear-ended a vehicle, then tried to head north to Loop 202 but veered left of center and sideswiped the vehicle of a Maricopa County Sheriff’s Deputy, who was driving to work. After the second collision, the man overcorrected and struck a third vehicle, Smith said.
The driver then ran south on McClintock Drive and hasn’t been located.
Police arrested the passenger of the vehicle, who was a 20-year-old man under the influence of alcohol. It’s unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.

I wish those illegals would NOT drink and drive!
Hey Doc, I don’t like the illegals either, BUT where in the story does it say who was driving.
seriously! This happened right by ASU. If anything, it was some stupid drunk college students!
I was making a joke, John..
Is Ty Falhmann out of jail already?
Interesting that the deputy was unable to affect an arrest. Luckily, it doesn’t sound as if anyone was injured, and the passenger will no doubt roll over on the driver, who will face additional charges. Those cynics among us look forward to stories of low bail, or worse, no bail. Possibly a semi-celebrity(is Britney in town?), or a political parent? As for the illegal question, if the driver appeared to be illegal, I have to think the deputy would have captured him as a matter of priority. I only hope for his future job security the driver doesn’t turn out to be an illegal.
Damn illegals driving around drunk!!!
I WISH LIKE HELL THAT A LOSER WOULD HIT MY TRUCK AND TRY TO TAKE OFF…. I WOULD MAKE IT MY SOLE PURPOSE IN LIFE TO FOLLOW THEM AND RUN THEM INTO A POWERPOLE.
