Two men accused of stealing a vehicle in Apache Junction were found passed out in the car at a red light early Wednesday in Gilbert, according to police.

Edgar Rios, 19, was driving the vehicle at 3 a.m. when he came to a stoplight at Ranch House Parkway and Germann Road. He then fell asleep waiting for the light, according to Gilbert police Sgt. Mark Marino.

Authorities were called after a passer-by noticed Rios asleep at the wheel. When police arrived, Rios and his back seat passenger Sabino Perez, 21, were found sleeping, Marino said.

Both men were booked on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, DUI and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, Marino said.

The vehicle was reported stolen from Apache Junction on Tuesday, Marino said.
