Police say a man armed with a semi-automatic handgun robbed a Gilbert gas station Tuesday night.

According to Sgt. Mark Marino of the Gilbert Police Department, the unidentified man entered the 7-11 store at 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Gilbert Road and Houston Avenue. He then removed a black gun from his clothing and demanded money from the store clerk.

Marino said the man was able to escape with an unknown amount of cash.

A detailed description of the suspect was not available and pictures of the suspect from the store’s video surveillance system were unclear and blurred.

I think we are going to see more of this happening as people become more desperate to meet economic pressures of staying alive and keeping their families fed.Who knows about the motive for this but the motive for some will be survival.

He must have got lost and thought he was in Mesa.

It has nothing to do with economic problems or struggling to feed his family. It’s all about feeding his DRUG ADDICTION. Maybe meth, maybe crack or maybe heroin. Or all of the above. Good people do not rob stores because they are a little short for the rent, they get another job! I suppose someone might blame the economy and President Bush for his drug addiction too!

My response to dave….LOL! survival in these hard economic times. Survival is getting a second job even if it means bagging groceries. Survival is not buying a auto or home you can’t afford in the first place. I’ve been working two jobs for over 30 years and I (single mother) have an advanced degree. It’s in education hence working two jobs.
