A man was arrested Sunday in Mesa on suspicion of striking a pedestrian in a crosswalk with his van and leaving the area.
Juan Aldama Bruno, 21, of Phoenix, told police he knew he was supposed to stop at the scene, but left because he doesn’t have a drivers license. Court records say Bruno entered the U.S. illegally.
Aldama is suspected of colliding with a pedestrian while he was turning from west Broadway Road to south Lindsay Road. Court records say a witness followed the van for about five miles until a police officer arrived and made a traffic stop.
Aldama told police he was afraid to stop and was afraid of being deported.
The pedestrian suffered two broken ribs and a deep cut to her head. It’s unknown if she suffered additional injuries because she hadn’t been fully examined at the time the police report was taken.
Police are recommending Aldama be charged with failure to remain at the scene of a serious injury collision.

The sad thing is that neither Obama or McStain will do anything about illeagals. McStain will hook up with his buddy Ted Kennedy and pass that amnisty bill they both love so much!

He is in Mesa so he shouldn’t be worried about being deported. Aren’t we the safe haven city of AZ.
No doubt the administrations, local and Federal, will use this as an excuse to quickly issue free driver’s licenses to all illegals, to tide them over until the next administration — regardless of party — stamps them all ‘Approved’ and then makes them the Citizen of the Year.
Every time some legal citizen dies at the hands of an illegal border-crasher, we should hang one of the greedy sleezeballs who hires illegals and causes the whole problem.
We have to be trained at 16 to drive a car and they come over at any age with no training and just wreak havoc on the roads. Dump him on the other side of the Border!!!
