A motorcyclist was killed early Monday after crashing on the I-17 freeway, closing the freeway for over two hours.
According to a DPS spokesman, the northbound accident did not involve any other vehicles when it occurred at 8:30 a.m. near New River Road. The identity of the motorcyclist has not yet been released.
The northbound I-17 freeway was re-opened at 10:50 a.m. following the accident.

I, TO RIDE A MOTORCYCLE, AND HAVE NOT FOR VERY LONG, TO HEAR THAT ANOTHER RIDER HAD BEEN KILLED DOES HURT ME, AND I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THE PERSON. I HAVE ONLY BEEN RIDING FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS NOW HAD JUST GOT MY FIRST BIKE IN 2005, AND HAVE SEEN AND HEARD ALOT ABOUT BIKERS GETTIN KILLED OR HURT, MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE PERSONS FAMILY. I, BY NO MEANS AM A EXPERT OR A NOVICE RIDER, BUT I AM VERY CAREFUL AN CAUTIOUS WHEN IT COMES TO RIDING, I JUST WISH THAT EVERYONE ELSE WAS THE SAME. I use to ride for about 20 years. I now have a scooter I use just to get back and forth to work. I am in no way saying this is what happened to this rider, but I have watched many a rider that should have been nailed a long time ago. My condolences to his family
