Ms. Keller, the DUI laws are some of the most visible and the public is very aware of them and the current levels. Sorry, nothing was sneaked in several years ago. You sound sincere and are well spoken but your comments are not factual. Back to the library. The DUI law and its levels are quite clear and have been for years. Yes, there were changes but I guess you didn’t get that memo. Sorry.

FYI: The BAC level is no longer .08. The law was changed without the public’s knowledge several years back. The .08 level is used to distinguish between an extreme DUI or a regular DUI, the latter being anywhere between .01 to .08 (or maybe .07.)

Ergo, if you drink a thimbleful of wine with your dinner, proceed to drive home, and are stopped by police you’ll be arrested for ‘driving while impaired’ since the slightest amount of alcohol is considered cause impairment.

Your fines’ll be the same, your license suspension the same, and spending 24 hours in Tent City will happen just the same as if you’d been arrested with a BAC over what used to be, and most people are still unaware of this fact, the legal limit. And, after all, isn’t collecting those fines what this surrepticious new change in the law was all about?

There is NO legal limit any more except zero alcohol.

Most of the fatals in AZ are caused by sober driver’s. It just is more eye-
catching to the news reading public to publish stories of drunk driving.
95% of all accidents are caused by sober driver’s. AZDOT.gov.

DUI checkpoints net a large percentage of ILLEGAL ALIENS because mexicans think driving drunk is ok! Thats how they drive back in mee-hee-coo.
These ILLEGAL ALIENS have now committed 2 crimes, DUI and sneaking over the border! Round up their whole families and THROW them back over the border where they belong!

Wouldn’t you just KNOW that someone would bring the subject of illegal immigrants into a DUI issue? I believe people should come here legally, too, but one cannot simply be OBSESSED with illegals….people who are need to get a grip.
