Police have updated the description of a man they are searching for in connection with the Sunday rape and robbery of a senior citizen.
Investigators now believe the man got into the woman’s home in the 6500 block of South Cole Drive through a shattered window and likely suffered lacerations to his arms, hands and chest. The intruders blood was found at the scene, police said.
Police said it’s possible that the man sought medical attention or treated the cuts himself and may be wearing bandages.
He is described as white, 40 to 50 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches and weighing about 160 to 170 pounds. He has dark scraggly hair and a dark scraggly beard and was last seen wearing a tan shirt and dark knee-length shorts.
The Tempe Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit will be distributing flyers to homes and business in the area of the crime, said Tempe police spokesman Sgt. Steve Carbajal.
Police ask anyone with information to call (480) 350-8311 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
