Two teen boys were arrested Wednesday in connection with a burglary where racial slurs and obscenities were spray-painted all over a woman’s Mesa home.
Police haven’t released the boys’ names, but said they came into the station with their parents for an interview and turned most of the stolen property over to authorities.
Also, police said the teens admitted to the crime and said they spray painted the house to make their burglary look like a hate crime.
Police said the victim helped lead authorities to the suspects by noticing that a friend of one of her sons had called the house shortly after she left for work. Although the call wasn’t answered, the caller ID logged the information, which helped police locate the first suspect.
After the property was recovered, both teens were booked in juvenile jail on one count of second degree burglary and one count felony criminal damage, police said.
Due to the nature of the graffiti, the case was also referred to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office to be reviewed as a hate crime, police said.
The burglary occurred in a home near Country Club Drive and Brown Road on Monday. Authorities said it took about 24 hours to recover the stolen goods.

throw away the keys……….
I was right…Always check our your kids friends….LOCK THEM UP….make them and their parents pay for repainting…and replacing the things taken or destroyed…THEN…Make them do time…
Isn’t it just great the values that parents and schools teach kids these days.
The lady was smart and assertive to spot the extra number on her caller ID, and take it from there! Kudos to her for protecting herself, and to Mesa PD for the quick follow up. As for the “kids,” maybe a year in the Adobe Mountain School District, with no cell phones, no dances, no trips to the mall will straighten them out. If not, a few years in Florence….
Yeah, let’s get these twits off the streets…maybe outta the gene pool.
Kudos to the parents for marching those boys into the police station. Now they need to march them out to behind the woodshed.
Like I said when this story first was posted…. Hold pry their eyes open and unload a full can of spray paint in them. Then point and laugh at them because they have to be affiliated with a “gang”. Pathetic!! Word to the wise….. Don’t break into someone’s house that you know. #2 Don’t call the house from a traceable phone before you do it. Morons.
hmmmmmm… to:” the Rue” so i guess they’d be smarter to break into a strangers house, rob & distroy property….yup - thats the attitude that made this country what it is today!!! pathetic
Wow - too bad the parents waited til after their kids were criminals before they decided to take some responsibility as parents
