Loop 202 drivers distracted by fireworks cause four crashes

During the Tempe fireworks display this year only four collisions occurred on the Loop 202 compared to 10 last year.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officials said all four crashes were caused by inattentive drivers who were watching the fireworks. Two of the collisions resulted in DUI arrests.
Police conducted rolling traffic breaks in both directions on the freeway when the fireworks began. Officials said this helped drivers slow down, pay more attention and keep the flow of traffic moving.
