A Tempe motorcycle officer was injured Wednesday afternoon in a traffic accident while responding to a burglary call, according to authorities.
The female motorcycle officer, whose name was not released, was responding to a burglary call around 4:30 p.m. when she was struck by a vehicle, said Brandon Banks, spokesperson for Tempe police.According to officials, the officer was riding near 8th Street and Dorsey Lane when she attempted to pass a vehicle ahead of her, that vehicle moved into the officer’s lane at the same time and struck her.The officer was transported to an area hospital with a fractured arm, Banks said. Police found no evidence of excessive speed on the part of the driver, or impairment, and no citations were given.
