4-year-old boy drowns in Phoenix pool

June 29th, 2008, 2:09 pm · 3 Comments · posted by Devon Hersom

A Phoenix boy died at a local hospital Sunday after his parents lost track of him at an apartment complex pool and discovered him at the bottom of the water, police said.

Police responded to the apartment complex located at 801 N. 59th Avenue after a 911 call was placed at 4 p.m. on Friday.  The boy was transferred to a hospital immediately following the incident.

The victim, Jesus Tapia, wandered into the pool after both of his parents thought the other was watching the boy, investigators said.

Tapia was listed in critical condition on Saturday at a local hospital, and he later died Sunday afternoon.

  1. Dan James Says:

In the past, people have been prosecuted for leaving a child unattended in a bath tube - un attention that resulted in the child’s death. But now - parents are NOT being persecuted for the deaths of children drowning in pools. Why?

  2. Sue Says:

God Dan, tell us how you really feel.

God bless this family and the unimaginable pain they must feel every day. I think that’s punishment enough. sheesh!
