Police arrested a 40-year-old Chandler man Saturday on a charge of operating an auto theft chop shop.

Ricardo Manuel Dominguez was booked into the Maricopa County Jail after police found a stolen car, parts to at least four stolen cars and tools consistent with the operation of a chop shop in his property, located at 264 S. 95th Place, near Dobson and Frye roads, police said.

Police were lead to Dominguez while investigating an area near Dobson and Frye roads where 13 Honda passenger cars have been stolen or found during the past three months. While detectives watched the area Saturday, they saw people near 95th Place and Frye Road loading the stripped shell of a Honda Civic onto a trailer.

Detectives followed the people and made a traffic stop, where they learned the car was stolen out of Chandler in May. Police also found methamphetamine packaged to be sold.

Daniel Best, 41, of Mesa and Renee Brown, 50, of Mesa were both arrested on charges of dangerous drugs for sale, auto theft and trafficking in stolen parts, police said.

From there, police said they were led to the chop shop.
