Police are searching for a suspect who shot a man in east Mesa Saturday night after an argument.

The shooting occurred just after 8 p.m. in the 3000 block of S. 93 Street, near Ellsworth and Broadway roads, police said.

The suspect pulled a gun on another man while they were arguing in the street. Police said both may have been carrying weapons.

The man’s injuries are not life-threatening, police said.

Further information wasn’t immediately available.

  • Anonymous Neighbor says:

This blog is incorrect. The location of the incident was at 93rd and Portebello (near Ellsworth and Guadalupe). A man was shot in his driveway, and seriously injured, by his friend/neighbor. Apparently it was a case of mistaken identity when the neighbor attempted to assist the victim whose home was being burglarized. Police arrived and detained the shooter, as well as two suspects that were found after an extensive helicopter and K-9 search of the area. It is assumed, bot not confirmed by police, that the additional 2 persons were the burglars that started the entire incident.
A large number of police were on the scene for over 5 hours, barricading 2 residential streets. The victim’s home was up for sale, and is possible that his home was targeted for burglary in conjunction with a recent spree of homes targeted that are up for sale, or in forclosure with possesions inside. There is much more to the story, but police obviously were not wanting to discuss it on the scene. I am surprised that this hasn’t really been covered by local media, given the seriousness of the incident.

  • Shutting up the intrusive neighbors says:

The following are the only factual statement from the previous BLOG. The rest is wrong:

The location of the incident was at 93rd and Portebello (near Ellsworth and Guadalupe).
A man was shot in his driveway…
A large number of police were on the scene for over 5 hours…
I am surprised that this hasn’t really been covered by local media, given the seriousness of the incident.

    Clearing up the idiotic assumptions:
The facts need to be seriously straightened out on this.
The friend or neighbor did not shot him. He did pass away from the injury. There was not an extensive search for any suspects. There was not a single suspect in this. The case was solved within minutes of police arriving. There were many people who have been affected by this and you are not one of them. The house was not for sale and hadn’t been for a few months. We hope to God that you are not a real reporter because this is the most inaccurate thing I have ever read. The man who died was one of my best friends and a great neighbor. All that know the exact details of the night are really having a difficult time. Have the decency to get your nose out of something that did not involve you other then you may live near by.
