A man suspected of confronting and making death threats to two police officers, was arrested Wednesday. Daniel William Catalina, 19, who goes by the alias “Dum Dum” yelled to officers across a busy Mesa cross street “I’m going to kill both of you” late Sunday, according to police reports. Witnesses and both police officers, who were in full uniform at the time of the incident, said Catalina then reached into a pocket pulled out a black bandana and began to wave it in the air yelling “you’re in my hood now… I’m going to kill you”. Police reports said that Dum Dum made several hand gestures that are possibly gang related. He remained combative with officers who were forced to subdue him with handcuffs and hobbles. Dum Dum admitted in a police interview that he is affiliated with the Gangster Disciples and that he made the threatening statements because he was drunk at the time, said police reports. Dum Dum was arrested but not booked on charges due to medical treatment that he required at the time. He was arrested Wednesday night at 600 N. country Club Drive in Mesa, for a traffic violation.Dum Dum refused to talk to officers, and was charged with felony counts of threatening as well as assisting a criminal street gang.
