A man was found dead Sunday morning in Tempe’s Papago Park with a gunshot wound and a gun in his hand.
Police said a passerby called authorities about 6:30 a.m. after spotting the body of a man in his 50s in the 700 block of N. College.
Tempe police spokesman officer Brandon Banks said he was not sure where exactly in the park the body was discovered or how long it had been there.
Banks said police haven’t been able to find any witnesses to the shooting. Investigators believe initial evidence shows the death looks like a possible suicide.
The park is open today, but police ask the public to be aware of the crime scene if they see any yellow police tape.
