Police hunting robbers who dressed like cops

June 1st, 2008, 2:20 pm · 2 Comments · posted by Katie McDevitt

Police are searching for two men who impersonated police Saturday while robbing a Phoenix convenience store.

One man wore a T-shirt that said “FBI” and the other wore a tan long-sleeved law enforcement uniform and a hat.

The man in the “FBI” shirt also wore a fake beard and was armed with a sawed off shotgun. He is about 5 feet 7 inches. The man in the police uniform was armed with a handgun and is about 5 feet 10 inches.

Police said the robbery occurred just before 4 p.m. at 309 E. Osborn Road.

“Besides being armed and dangerous, the fact the suspects are willing to impersonate law enforcement officers coupled with their agitated manner during the armed robbery makes them of additional concern,” said Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Andy Hill.

Police ask anyone with information to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
