A Tempe man facing a SWAT team surrounding his apartment surrendered peacefully Sunday.
According to Tempe police, a resident at a townhome community at 1216 E. Vista Del Cerro Drive reported that Dustin McCornack, 24, had threatened him with a rifle about 4:45 a.m.
McCornack spoke with officers as he stood on his balcony, telling them there was a misunderstanding and he didn’t point a rifle at anyone.
He went inside and refused to come out, so a SWAT team responded.
Investigators found two rifles and a shotgun.
He was booked on one count of aggravated assault with a firearm.
