The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal crash early Monday on U.S. 60.

The crash happened just after 3:30 a.m. on eastbound U.S. 60 east of Mill Avenue, DPS officials said. It occurred between the HOV and first lanes and led to the closure of several lanes of traffic.  As of late Monday morning, the freeway was open without restrictions.

DPS officials said a vehicle driven by Andy Sisouvong, 21, was stopped in traffic and was struck from behind by a second vehicle. Sisouvong was killed.

DPS officials said they are still investigating and have no other details.

I was coming home from a friends house and saw the aftermath of it. It had just happened. Debris was everywhere and there was a truck all the way up the embankment. One guy looked pretty pale and started waiving me around. I had to slow down with all the dbris in the way. I could tell the driver of the grey vehicle was dead. I felt really bad for everyone. This is far to common in AZ. I have seen at least 4 fatal accidents (just after) the past two years alone.
