Police are calling a Mesa fire ’suspicious’ after fire crews arrived to find smoke billowing out a first story motel room at the Colonade Motel Suites on Saturday.
The motel, located near the intersection of Main Street and Higley Road, reported the blaze at 1:58 a.m., according to Mesa fire spokesman Rick Apple. Fire crews arrived five minutes later and had the flames extinguished within 15 minutes.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and is being investigated by police, Apple said.
No one was injured and no other rooms were affected. Apple estimated the damage to be around $50,000.
