The plan to steal a bottle of liquor from a drug store fell apart for three teenagers Thursday when detectives recognized them on surveillance video.
According to Mesa police, the detectives knew where they lived and later found evidence there linking them to the 5:21 p.m. robbery at the Walgreens at 840 S. Alma School Road.
Police say one of the suspects went into the store and stuck a liquor bottle under his shirt and left.
Employees followed but they were encountered outside by the shoplifter’s accomplices, one of whom had a baseball bat he raised at them and yelled threats.
Two of the suspects are juveniles, ages 16 and 14. The third was identified as 18-year-old Ake Fulilangi, according to police.
