Another ASU student nearly raped

Another Arizona State University student living in Tempe was nearly raped early Saturday by an intruder who climbed on top of her while she slept.

Police said an unknown man somehow got into a 19-year-old woman’s apartment located at 1111 E. Apache Boulevard just after 3 a.m. and climbed on top of her in her bedroom. The woman pushed the man off of her, ran out of the apartment and found a security guard before he could sexually assault her.

Police searched the area, but couldn’t find the man. The victim wasn’t able to provide police with a detailed description of the man, so authorities don’t believe it will be possible to create a composite sketch.

It’s unknown exactly how the man got into the apartment, but police said there were no signs of forced entry. Authorities are reminding the public to keep windows and doors locked at all times and to be aware of surroundings.

Police ask anyone with information or who was in the area of the apartment on Saturday morning between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. to call (480) 350-8311.

The incident occurred nearly a month after another ASU student was raped while a group of men held her down inside her apartment at 1655 E. University Drive. On Feb. 7 another student in that complex was nearly raped by an intruder, but the woman bit him and he fled.

Police said they don’t know if the most recent incident is related to the others. No arrests have been made.
