New York Giants defensive end Adrian Awasom, 24, was arrested Friday at 3:10 a.m. on suspicion of drunk driving.
An officer stopped Awasom as he headed east on the Interstate 10 at Exit 162 near Ahwatukee Foothills, Arizona Department of Public Safety officials said.
The officers transported Awasom to a DPS substation where he underwent a blood analysis, was cited for a DUI and released, DPS said.
Awasom, who is on the injured reserve list for the Giants and is not staying at the team hotel, has not played since the second week of the season.
Authorities said Awasom was cooperative during the incident, and that there will be no further comment on the arrest.
