A 4-year-old boy was airlifted to a local hospital Saturday night after breathing toxic fumes from a garage where a man committed an apparent suicide, deputies said.

Pinal County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Queen Creek home, located near Hunt Highway and Bella Vista Road, around 6:30 p.m. when the boy’s mother found him overcome by the fumes, deputies said.

Police declined to reveal the relationship between the boy and the 30-year-old man. However, neighbors told ABC 15 News that the man and boy’s mother lived together.

Deputies said the boy was not in the garage during the incident, but he breathed fumes that went into the house.

Police said the man died from asphyxiation but declined to give further details about the death. No other information was immediately available.
