Two teens were robbed by an armed suspect near downtown Mesa on Wednesday night.
Police said the victims were walking in the 200 block of North Drew before 9 p.m. when the suspect confronted them, said he was a “Compton Crip” and demanded their cellphones. The victims were wearing red clothing, but denied any gang affiliation.
The suspect was described as a 17-year-old black male with short, curly hair, 5-foot-9 in height and weighing 230 pounds. A black handgun was seen, but it was never pointed at either victim.
