Mesa police department filled six open commander positions with four internal employees and two from outside the agency, officials announced Wednesday.Mesa’s new commanders are former traffic lieutenant Mario Lattanzio, former homeland security lieutenant Tony Lythgoe, former acting commanders Joe Shelley and Steve Stahl and Vicki Myers, of Michigan, and Michael Denney, who has worked for the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The candidates were selected during a worldwide search.
