An emaciated dog with signs of abuse was found Friday running the streets near 75th Avenue and Indian School Road, Maricopa County Animal Care spokeswoman Aprille Hollis said in a news release.
Hollis said an animal control field officer noticed scars on the dog’s body that could have been caused from a knife or something hot that burned the animal.
Hollis said animal control workers have named the dog Frankie. She said the animal was deemed healthy after an inspection.
“Her scars were healing without infection,” Hollis said in the news release. “In the five days Frankie has been in the kennel, she has already put on some weight.”
Frankie will soon be heading to a foster home and will be seeking an adoptive home.
“Frankie is sweet as can be,” Hollis said. “She comes right up to people and just wants to be loved.”
