An Ohio woman was sentenced in U.S. District Court Tuesday to five months in prison and five months in home detention for embezzling monies from the Gila River Indian Tribe.Sheila Marie Dryden, 54, of Chillicothe, Ohio, pleaded guilty on Feb. 20 to Embezzlement from an Indian Tribal Organization, according to the United States Attorney’s Office.As pastor of the Siloam Indian Baptist Church, Dryden received a grant from the Gila River Indian Tribe of $122,946 to construct a community building.Instead, prosecutors said she and her former husband, Timothy Isabell, used $96,253 of the funds for personal expenses in April 2001.Isabell pleaded guilty to embezzlement in Sept. 2006 and was sentenced to three months in prison and three months of home detention, prosecutors said.Each was instructed to pay $96,253 in restitution to the tribe.
