A man shot himself in the foot Thursday before wounding the guy he was aiming with a couple shots. Both men, neither of whose names were immediately available, were treated for minor gunshot wounds. The altercation started about 2:30 a.m. at the Tails West Motel, 6205 E. Main St. A man who was trying to collect on a debt pushed another man onto a bed. The guy on the bed grabbed a handgun and began firing off rounds, striking himself in the foot and then hitting the other guy in the upper thigh and hand.

Police are looking for information on who shot and killed David Andrew Clapp, 34, Monday in a Phoenix apartment complex.Clapp was shot in the center courtyard, near the pool about 1:45 a.m. at the Northern Point Apartments, 1905 W. Las Palmaritas Drive..Clapp had been in an argument with an unknown man, when another unknown man pulled out a gun and shot Clapp, police said.Police are looking for any information on the shooter, his associate and the person who the Clapp had been with prior to his death. Police are also asking any witnesses to come forward.Anyone with information can call (602) 262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.

Bomb Squad Called

Tempe police called its bomb squad Tuesday to check on an object that looked like dynamite taped together that was found during a death investigation. It turned out to not be an explosive. The incident unfolded when a transient called about 9:20 p.m. to report a dead body in the 2400 block of East Apache, a place where transients camp. There were no signs of trauma to the body and investigators believe drugs may have been a factor. Investigators found the object and decided to call the bomb squad.

Arizona Department of Public Safety sent out a press release Wednesday tooting its horn about the marijuana busts smokies made on Arizona highways in May. They got enough to supply a Bob Marley concert - more than 6,500 pounds - the largest haul coming on May 9 when troopers pulled over a commercial truck in southern Arizona with 2,800 pounds of the green leafy substance.Most of the busts come thanks to the K-9s like Rico, who sniffed out 300 pounds stashed in the rear storage compartment of a Chevrolet Avalance on I-10 over the Memorial Day weekend.

Police hunting down truck

Chandler police are asking for the public’s help finding a Dodge Ram that witnesses say hit and killed a bicyclist on May 14 before leaving the scene.On Tuesday, authorities started passing out 300 fliers with information about the wreck at Frye Road and Jackson Street.The wreck killed Carlos Gomez, 55.The truck is believed to be a late 1990s model that is painted either almond or light gold, said Chandler police officer Jon Correll.The single-cab truck might have damage to the right front bumper, fender, hood and windshield.Authorities ask anyone with information to call the Chandler Police Department at (480) 782-4130.
